What to expect

On your first appointment you will need to complete a form (either online or paper) with your contact details, treatment needs and health goals.

Q: What happens during a session?

A: During the first session we will discuss your history (health and injury issues) and goals you want to achieve from the treatment.

Q: Do you only use acupuncture?

A: No.  There a several options available such as cupping, gua sha, moxabustion, tuina. Each treatment has a different reason for use.

Q: What should I wear?

A: For all treatments it is recommended to wear loose comfortable clothing.

You may be asked to move/adjust or remove clothing in order to needle specific points.

Some find it easier to bring a change of clothes, i.e. shorts if you are coming from work.

Q: Can I bring my children?

A: You are welcome to bring your children, however the rooms are treatment rooms which means there is no 'play space'. At Flow therapeutics the 1st floor is a 'quiet space'.

Q: I've had an accident. Can you provide me with an ACC number?

A: Acupuncturists are treatment providers which means we can provide treatment on ACC but we can not give you a claim number. This will have to be obtained from a GP, Chiropractor, Physio or Osteopath. A referral for acupuncture is not required.

Q: Can I bring someone with me?

You are welcome to bring a chaperone or support person if you wish.  All children under the age of 16 years old will require their parents/caregiver to stay for the duration of the treatment.

You are welcome to accept or decline any part of the treatments and to ask as many questions as you like.
